Goals of the Elementary Fine Arts Program

The Albuquerque Public Schools Fine Arts Program has the following goals:

Provide an annual arts experience for every elementary student, delivered by certified music and arts teachers, that includes:

• basic skills and competencies in general music and visual art;

• opportunities for students to develop and express their creativity;

 • opportunities to enhance their critical thinking and problem solving skills;

• instilling an enjoyment and appreciation of the arts.

Provide a variety of professional development opportunities for classroom teachers to expand their knowledge of best practices for teaching art and music as well as their understanding of the benefits of arts education.
